Victory for Yorkshire at last, after waving the tablecloth beneath Gloucestershire, taking 13 wickets in one day at Scarborough. Zaman Akhter made a career-best score of 70 for Gloucestershire, while Conor McKer, recruited from Surreyhad a hat-trick in each innings, taking five wickets, and Adam Lyth took the match-winning dive at second to complete a happy three days at home.

Surrey enforced the follow-up action at New Road, but then met with a brave resistance from the WorcestershireGareth Roderick and Kashif Ali who were trouble-free for 34 overs until Jordan Clarke caught Roderick at slip as three wickets fell in the space of 10 balls. Before the game, Jeeton Patel, England’s bowling coach, was overseeing Surrey’s Dan Lawrence and Shoaib Bashir in the middle.

James Vince and Liam Dawson slightly rocked to their first Championship centuries of the summer as Hampshire piled up the tracks at Edgbaston. Vince was unbeaten at 166 when he announced, betting Warwickshire 498 to win on a flat pitch under the hot sun.

Paul Walter danced to a quick second hundred of the championship at Chelmsford but Durham beaten through the rest, Matthew Potts quickly hammered four for 71. Durham did not enforce the following and Essex 433 were set in the last day.

Lancashire there was Kent on the ropes at Canterbury after Josh Bohannon fired up his previously static car with 205 and Lancashire cruised through Kent’s second innings. Three late wickets from Jack Carlson Sussex in an excellent position against LeicestershireHove’s pitch is beginning to turn and the visitors need another 325 runs with just five wickets remaining.

Haseeb Hameed lost his stumps on 91 as Nottinghamshire fight against Somerset. Michael Pretorius had earlier helped Somerset to a first innings lead with an unbeaten 95, while Dylan Pennington took his first five-fer for Notts. Toby Roland-Jones grabbed five wickets as Derbyshire exploded in the first hour with the Lord. They will need 396 to win Middlesex.
